Business Financing and Development

Muskoka Community Futures Development Corporation (Muskoka Futures) administers a local investment fund to help finance start-up, expansion and/or stabilization programs for businesses that create or maintain jobs in the Muskoka area. Repayable loans, loan guarantees and equity investments are available to qualified organizations to a maximum of $150,000. Additional financing of up to $500,000 may be considered under special circumstances. Application and business plan documents are available on-line through their web site.

Our investment portfolio approximates four million dollars, made up of active business loans and liquid reserves. As all earnings are reinvested, this investment facility continues to increase for the direct benefit of future clients.

Community Economic Development Services

The Muskoka Community Futures Development Corporation is committed to creating, aiding in the development and seeing the completion of community based economic development projects. We work with private and public sector partners throughout Muskoka to assess local problems and to explore new ideas and opportunities that could strengthen our economy.

Our Board of Directors and staff plan and help implement development strategies and assist with community economic development (CED) projects designed to build a brighter future for the Muskoka economy. We provide services including facilitation, coordination, and financial contributions to Muskoka based community economic development projects.

Muskoka Community Initiative

Designed to assist not-for-profit organizations. Muskoka Futures provides financial incentives to organizations in pursuit of creative, community-based projects that promote and support economic independence and self-sufficiency. Project examples may include, but are not limited to, the development of infrastructure to support economic development, initiatives to support entrepreneurship, or projects that promote awareness and action of sustainable development.

Canadian Youth Business Foundation
Are you under 35 and looking to start or expand your own business?

The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF), is a national charity providing start-up mentoring, financing and business resources for young Canadians, age 18-34, to create their own successful business. Whether urban or rural, service or high-tech, traditional or futuristic, CYBF helps young Canadians make their dream of owning a business come true. Muskoka Youth Venture
Muskoka Community Futures Development Corporation plays an important role in the creation, delivery and implementation of programs designed specifically to encourage youth participation in an effort to grow the economy of our community. Through our youth programming, our not-for-profit organization has joined with caring individuals from the Muskoka community to built in our young people an understanding of the entrepreneurial spirit and leadership.
